The Surface Squared team is proud to have supplied surface solutions for the expansion of West End State School (WESS) campus. The 144 year old school, located in Brisbane’s inner suburbs, saw its expansion delivered across two stages as part of the Queensland Government’s Building Future Schools Fund--an investment of more than $1.3 billion to support growing communities. This project marks an exciting milestone for the local West End community which has experienced exponential growth from urban regeneration over recent years. On November 6th, 2019, an official sod-turning ceremony was held to celebrate the start of construction. This wonderful milestone was made possible by Deputy Premier and Local Member for South Brisbane Jackie Trad, Education Minister Grace Grace, and WESS Principal Kim McNamara.   Designed by Cox Architecture, Stage 1 respects the school’s original foundation building which was built in 1875 and is a local heritage landmark. South Pine Sports Complex is a sport and leisure centre in Brendale, a suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The complex sits on 74-hectare regional sports facility owned by Moreton Bay Regional Council (MBRC). Previous detailed master planning undertaken by Council identified the indoor facility is reaching its capacity in terms of user group occupancy. It is also believed that a greater catchment could potentially attract a far larger range of sustainable events and activities than is currently possible using existing facilities. Part of the facilities that needed attention were the change rooms and amenities. Surface Squared provided Stratificato as a surface solution enabling greater privacy for users of the space and enabled further cost reduction and waste minimalisation with our sheet size of 4200×1860 which create the best optimisation for a 2100 high partition. Products: Stratificato 13mm 1824, 482, 440, 850, 847, 409, 486, 859, 478, 849.   Order

For too long, universities have struggled to create interesting, interactive, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing learning spaces. The boring libraries, labs and classrooms do little to encourage learning – instead, they encourage students to run for the hills! Spowers Architects were engaged by Melbourne’s RMIT University to design a more active style of learning, where students and teachers could interact and collaborate with each other. This style of learning is becoming popular around the world and has even been thought to increase students’ academic results. Surface Squared was able to turn RMIT’s vision into reality with solutions that not only enabled interactivity within the learning

What do Luciano Pavarotti, Whoopi Goldberg and Don Bradman all have in common? It’s an odd group who seemingly have little in common apart from being famous. The link? They have all performed at Adelaide’s iconic Her Majesty’s Theatre. And now, so has Surface Squared! In fact, we will continue to perform at Her Majesty’s every night for many years to come. Granted, our performance is a little different to the celebrities who grace the stage – but every bit as important. Why? Because our Polaris High Pressure Laminate by ABET Laminati is now a permanent feature act within this historic establishment.
